About Us

The Yorkshire Junior Grasstrack Club was founded over twenty years ago to develop the sport of motorcycle grasstrack racing for riders from the age of 6 years old. Race meetings take place throughout the season, April to October, at our tracks in and around Emley, near Huddersfield.

We have a long and proud tradition of introducing young riders to the sport, many of today's most outstanding grasstrack and speedway riders have raced with the club. Names which include Joe Screen, Carl Stonehewer and 1992 speedway World Champion, Gary Havelock were all regular competitors during the early part of their racing careers.

2012 is looking to be an exciting time with the added bonus of additional fields, the new fields will allow us to run bigger tracks throughout the season. We will continue to develop Yorkshire for the youth and hopefully attract more competition from around the country. During the last few years the Club has taken part in many promotions to encourage new members and youth riders to become part of grasstrack. This will continue to be a focal point of the Club as over the past years we have welcomed many new youngsters from beginners to experienced.

Adult racing at Yorkshire is also very important to us and with our new larger fields we will be hoping to welcome new riders from beginners to novice and experienced and as with the youth we encourage beginners of all ages to the sport.

The club is non-profit making and is run purely by volunteers. We have race classes for both grasstrack and motocross bikes. Members participate by assisting with track building, marshalling, catering and the Technical Inspection of motorcycles, any training will be given. Our meetings are characterised by a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where youngsters of all ages share the common interest of motorcycle grasstrack racing.

We look forward to welcoming you to one of our race meetings soon!
