The Yorkshire Junior Grasstrack Club was founded
over twenty years ago to develop the sport of
motorcycle grass track racing for riders from
the age of 6. Race meetings take place throughout the April to October season at our tracks in Upper Cumberworth,
near Huddersfield.
With a long and proud tradition of introducing young riders to the sport, many of today's most outstanding grass track and speedway riders have raced with the club. Names which include Joe Screen, Carl Stonehewer,
and 1992 speedway World Champion, Gary Havelock
were all regular competitors during the early
part of their racing careers. |
|
2008 saw the introduction of the Grass and MX
Adult Classes at Yorkshire to ensure the future
of the Club. We will be continuing in the 2009
season again with the Adult Classes, which is promising
to provide some exciting racing, with both
Sheffield Speedway ace Paul Cooper and
grasstrack sensation Jamie Rodgers showing their
interest for the coming season.
The club is non-profit making and is run purely
by volunteers. We have race classes for both
grasstrack and motocross bikes. Members
participate by assisting with track building,
marshalling, catering and the Technical
Inspection of
motorcycles. Our meetings are characterised by a
friendly, relaxed atmosphere where youngsters of
all ages share the common interest of motorcycle
grass track racing.
I hope you will visit one of our race meetings soon. |
